Lambrini Girls – 14 Jun – Rough Trade

For anybody who wants to know how to do crowd engagement and how to get your message across, then look no further than the Lambrini Girls. They are angry and it’s delivered, at times, in a ferocious manner. Make no mistake, they make you listen and listen we did.

Let’s be clear, there were some lighter moments too. There was the bottle of Lambrini that the band ‘shared’ with the front rows or the guy invited up to the stage to tell a joke who promptly got moved along very quickly.

It was a sold out Rough Trade crowd, most of whom would, at some point, held a member of the band above their heads. The opportunities to do so were numerous. From the first moment, there was no physical divide between crowd and band, we all sat down when invited to do so; apart from the guy who didn’t and got some stick for not joining in!

This is a band that always demands audience participation, you are at the show and your integration with the band is what makes it special. But the inclusive message is strong too. It’s made by the band in no uncertain terms, to an audience either already fully engaged or now better informed. This was one to remember!
