Their heart is on their sleeve. They are in your face. This is why we love the Lambrini Girls.
Let’s be clear, you wouldn’t be able to leave a Lambrini Girls gig without an understanding of their position on matters affecting the modern world. Equally listen to their recorded output and you’d get the same strength of message. If that sounds a little heavy, there’s some fun involved too.
Their recent gig at the Fleece in Bristol, at the start of a mammoth tour, reflected all those strengths again. But they seem to have gone up a further level as well. Maybe it’s the confidence from having an excellent LP released. It’s been well received by the masses and consequently the Fleece sold out in a heartbeat. But to reiterate, yes a step up was achieved when we thought there wasn’t another step to go to!
What should you expect from a Lambrini Girls gig? Communal crowdsurfing and circle pits, all organised and encouraged by the band. You should expect the Lambrini Girls, to spend half the gig off the stage. Or if it’s the final song, the one with the liberal use of the c-word, then expect all the band to be off the stage. Phoebe may even get to the bar and get a round, in the middle of the set (and thus it becomes part of the show). As a gig attendee, you have no choice but to be involved.
At a time where for most people politics are a sideshow, Lambrini Girls put them right back in front of you. Thank goodness. And add a sprinkling of fun. We love the Lambrini Girls!
