Well, this has been a fantastic week for us. The excitement of Ritual Union, the chaos of the Lambrini Girls and now the beauty of Mumble Tide. A surprise support act for Pale Blue Eyes and our second time watching them in five days.
What’s it all about? There are some hints of melancholy here – both guitar and lyrics. For good measure, a smattering of Americana and a large dose of ‘from the heart’ vocals. Pop with some class, you’re likely drinking wine to enjoy this as the band intended. But don’t worry if you are a beer drinker there’s plenty here for you as well. The single ‘Pea Soup’ is brilliant and has definitely been an earworm ever since we first heard it.
There is already an LP ‘Everything Ugly’ (check out the song ‘Sucker’) but the band are pushing the new one which is out in a matter of weeks. So, we will do the same, and if tracks like ‘All Weather’ are anything to judge by then it should be super. The band play the Lanes in Bristol on May 2, alongside Hachiku and it’s free if you order your ticket quickly. Sounds to us like the right to do.
