Looking to share great music, bands and help local venues

End of the Road Festival Lookahead Part 1

When the list of artists was released for End of the Road Festival 2025, there was a yelp and a punch of air when we saw that GOAT (pictured above) are playing. Difficult to describe, we once wrote of them “psychedelia, through prog and into rave culture, this beast has devoured bits of all of them”. A mix of styles and genres, truly wonderful and engaging this will be a treat from start to finish. Hopefully they’ll also be wearing their stage outfits too, that’ll brighten your day (if that’s needed). They play the Woods on Friday evening.

It’s been a while since we had anything new from Mandy, Indiana (pictured below) but based on their 2023 output, this is a standout booking. Experimental and challenging, we once wrote “it’s a wonderful collection of avant garde noise and sophisticated offbeat vocals”. Assuming there’s some new songs to be heard, that makes this unmissable. The Boat hasn’t been a massive stage previously so get there in plenty of time, Friday evening headliners.

It’s a huge mistake that we haven’t previously seen Man/Woman/Chainsaw so we are looking to correct that error. Some wonderful song construction and yet no two songs that sound the same. Some discordant noise and some subtle melodic moments. Or maybe a bit of both in the same song. Check out ‘The Boss’ and ‘Grow a Tongue in Time’ to see what they mean. They play the Big Top on Friday afternoon.

Another band we’ve previously missed but on the “don’t miss again list”  is Adult DVD. At the dance end of the dance-indie-rock sphere, they’ve also recently been involved in plenty of other band’s remixes. They describe themselves as a series of “hooks and grooves” and there’s no reason to disagree. In a fair and equitable world these guys should have meteoric rise to the top. Check them out in the Folly on Sunday afternoon.

La Securite give you crashing and roaring guitars, some angular drum patterns and a touch of psychedelia. There’s a limited back catalogue, but it sounds like there’s plenty of things going on and lots of fresh ideas. Check out ‘Ketchup’ and ‘K9’. For fans of Dog Race and Mhaol this will be one of the highlights of Thursday evening and we are really looking forward to it. In The Folly, early evening on Thursday.

Difficult to judge a band based on one single only, especially if it’s been released during August. But when the members of Long Fling come from Pip Blom and Personal Trainer, it must be worth a look! The single ‘Flung’ has a slightly off-centre sound and is a drum machine and synth driven rollercoaster. This sounds and feels like it will be both slightly jarring and fun at the same time, They open the Folly Stage on Sunday.
