On a wet showery Sunday at last years End of the Road Festival, Adult DVD overcame the weather and hangovers with an absolute cracking set and became one of the highlights of the 2025 festival. Theres an LP out late September so expect to hear lots of tunes from that. If a dance/indie vibe is your scene, then get to the Big Top on Friday.
Another one of the highlights from last year was the New Eves, and this year we get band member Nina Winder-Lind treating us her solo work. The LP has been heavily played on our Dandelion Radio show because it is a cracker! It’s full of beautiful and naked songs with a slightly off-centre feel – check out the singles “Girls” and “Headfirst”. Nina plays on Thursday evening.
No less beautiful and no less naked are Model/Actriz. We saw them in Bristol and both visually and musically they will blow you away. Dark sounds overlaid with the flamboyant style of front person, Cole Haden. Last year’s LP “Pirouette” is outstanding. Expect some jumping around, basslines to turn you inside out and theatricality. On in the Big Top on Friday evening.
If you want to kick start your festival on Thursday evening, then don’t miss the post-punk explosion that is M(h)aol. Theres lots here to keep you interested, we previously described them (in a gig review) as “confident and assured” with “heaps of stage presence”. The LP “Something Soft” from 2025 is excellent, check out “DM:AM” and “1-800-Call-Me-Back”. This will be outstanding!
We try and avoid recommending headline acts – they usually get enough attention, but there’s always an exception to that rule, and on this occasion, it’s Working Mens Club. A few but not too many new tracks released in the last twelve months, so it’ll be interesting to see what surprises they have in store for us. Absolutely owned the stage at Ritual Union Festival earlier in 2026. One of the truly great bands of this decade.
Never seen Ty Segall, so we are very excited to correct that error. There was a new LP out last Friday, so not overly familiar with it when writing this but historically there are no disappointing Ty records. If you love a guitar and love it played in a discordant manner then this is for you. Bring warm clothing to the Woods Stage on Friday evening and be prepared to jump!
Whoever booked the Big Top on Friday needs to be congratulated because as well as Adult DVD, Model/Actriz and Working Mens Club they also have the excellent Ghostwoman. We’ve never seen them but looking forward to a guitar focused, left of centre and gloriously challenging set. Last years LP “Welcome to the Civilized World” is excellent and definitely worth a listen.
Another for the list of bands we must get to see for the first time are Gans. Expect a pulsating and exciting mix of punk and electroclash but without any fixation on any particular genre. Very exciting and playing late on the Friday in the Folly which is the ideal time and venue. This will swipe you off your feet and ensure you stay awake for the late night Follys “secret sets”……….
